The full-frame lens uses aspherical lens elements in the optical design to reduce any type of aberration to a minimum, says the company, in addition to three lenses molded from Super-low Dispersion glass that significantly reduces lateral chromatic aberrations.
The lens has the ability to transmit aperture, distance and optical information to the camera making this lens fully suitable for the Sony A7 series camera’s MF assist function, in-camera 5-axis image stabilization and in viewfinder electronic distance scale.
The lens features a wide manual focus ring, aperture ring and depth of field index bar, all of interest to video shooters. With a press of the De-Click button on the aperture ring the lens declicks the aperture mechanism.
For those wondering, Fírin is a variation of Fírinne, the Old Irish word for “truth.”
The Tokina Firin 20 mm f/2 FE MF lens is available now.
