The camera features a 180-degree flip LCD for ease-of-use when capturing selfies.

Two new customizable function buttons – one on the front and one on the back – allow for quick access to important functions like shutter release and boosting the brightness of the LCD screen.

The TG-860 is waterproof to depths of 15 m (50 feet), freezeproof to -10C (14°F), shockproof from 2.1 m (7 feet), crushproof to 100 kgf (220 pounds) and dustproof.

The 21-105 mm (equivalent) f/3.5–5.7 lens combined with its TruePic VII image processor, and a 16-megapixel backlit CMOS sensor, capture sharp images with minimal noise, even in dim light.

The camera includes built-in Wi-Fi with an easy-to-use setup process and interface. An iOS or Android smartphone or tablet can be paired with the TG-860 in just a few seconds by scanning the QR code displayed on the camera LCD. The free Olympus Image Share app synchronizes a user’s iOS or Android mobile device with the camera, enabling instant image and movie transfers, and a live view through the camera’s lens.

You can also control the camera remotely by touching the smartphone or tablet’s display, as if it were the camera itself, and users can send selected images directly to websites and social media.

The OI Track app allows users to update the camera’s GPS assist data, transfer GPS logs and pictures from the camera to your smartphone and manage them in albums.

Sportcam Mode makes four video options immediately accessible to the user. The camera captures Full HD 1080p video at 60 frames per second, with 720 60p and 480 60p options also available. Additionally, the TG-860 can record high-speed movies at 120 frames per second at 854×480 (16:9) or 640×480 (4:3) or 240 frames per second at 640×360 (16:9) or 480×360 (4:3) resolution.

A Time-Lapse Movie mode is also available, capturing images in 0.5, 1, 3, 6, 12 and 30-second intervals, while a Sport-Burst shooting mode allows photographers to capture sequential images with a shutter interval from 0.05 to 60 seconds.

The Olympus Stylus Tough TG-860 will be available in April in black, orange and white for $279.99.
