The Pentax-08 Wide Zoom ultra-wide-angle zoom lens is designed for exclusive use with Q-mount digital interchangeable lens cameras, and is said to be the most compact ultra-wide angle zoom lens available today.
When mounted on the Pentax Q7 camera body, it offers focal-length coverage of 17.5-27 mm (equivalent).
The lens is only 38 mm long.
Its optical design boasts a molded-glass DSA (Dual Super Aspherical) element minimizing distortion, while two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements and one super-low-dispersion glass element deliver clear, high-resolution images with edge-to-edge sharpness, while effectively compensating for chromatic aberration over the entire zoom range.
Other features include an inner-focus mechanism for high-speed, low-noise AF operation; Quick-Shift Focus system for instant switching to manual-focus operation after the subject is captured in focus by the camera’s AF system; SP (Super Protect) coating to keep the front surface free of dust and stains; and built-in lens shutter equipped with an ND (neutral density) filter and an iris diaphragm.
The Pentax-08 Wide Zoom lens will be available in December at a suggested retail price of $499.99.
