Canon says the new lens achieves exceptionally high image quality.
It offers short back focus, two glass-molded aspherical lens elements and one UD (Ultra-low Dispersion) lens element.
The lens is also the first EF-series lens to incorporate a lens-retraction mechanism to ensure that the lens stays at its most compact when not in use.
Employing a rear-focus system with a lightweight focusing lens and lead-screw-type stepping motor, the new EF-M lens delivers exceptionally quiet and smooth autofocus performance, not only when capturing still images but also when shooting movies.
The EF-M 11-22 mm f/4-5.6 IS STM will be available in late July for $399.99.
