nikon AW110Two new point-and-shoot cameras from Nikon designed for the outdoor adventurer. They are the Coolpix S31 and AW110.

Waterproof (up to 18 m or 60 ft.), shockproof (up to 2.02 m or 6.6 ft)and freezeproof (up to -10°C or 14°F), the AW110 offers built-in Wi-Fi connectivity for transfer of image data to compatible smart devices for upload to social networking services, or share with friends and family through the free Wireless

Mobile Adapter Utility application. Wireless remote camera control is also possible using a smartphone or tablet when using the application.


The camera features a 16-megapixel backside illuminated (BSI) CMOS sensor ; a Nikkor 5x optical zoom lens with lens-shift Vibration Reduction (VR); and Full HD (1080p) movies with stereo sound.

The AW110 features a 3-inch, OLED display for easy menu access and image preview, with an intuitive graphic user interface (GUI) that makes it easy to navigate several fun and intelligent shooting modes, including Easy Auto Mode and the Smart Portrait System, while Special Effects can be easily applied to still images and HD video.

The 10.1-megapixel S31 is waterproof (up to 5 m or 16 ft), shockproof (up to 1.2 m or 3.9 ft) and dustproof.

It has a 3x optical zoom (29-87 mm equivalent) Nikkor lens, and a dedicated video record button.

A 2.7-inch LCD display supports an enhanced easy and intuitive GUI that allows for simple navigation and several shooting and playback modes.

Image editing and playback filter effects can also be applied to both stills and video.

The Coolpix AW110 is scheduled to be available in February at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $379.95. It is available in orange, blue, and camouflage.

The Coolpix S31 is scheduled to be available in February at an MSRP of $129.95. It is available in white, blue, and pink.
