Sony Cyber-shot cameras

There are four new compact Cyber-shot cameras from Sony, WX80, W730, W710, and TF1. All offer a new Advanced Flash which boosts the cameras sensitivity and extends the effective range of the flash. The new Beauty Effect feature gives users several post-shooting retouch options including skin toning and smoothing, teeth whitening, eye widening and shine removal. Also, 360 Sweep Panorama mode will now be offered throughout the entire line for seamless, detailed 360-deg panoramic shots.

WX80: The camera features a 16.2-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor, an 8x optical zoom lens (25-200 mm equivalent) with 16x digital zoom and an enhanced Optical SteadyShot to minimize camera shake. Superior Auto shooting mode has been improved to recognize and optimize settings in an even wider range of shooting situations including very low-lit scenes and instances where a subject is in fast motion. Full HD movie (1920×1080/60i) and 10fps burst shooting capability. The WX80 is Wi-Fi capable, allowing users to send images and video clips (MP4 only) wirelessly to a compatible smartphone or tablet through Sony’s PlayMemories Mobile app. Wi-Fi also lets shooters use their connected phone to control basic camera functions including shutter release, zoom, flash mode and more. Available in red and black for about $219.


W730: The camera features a 16.1-megapixel Super HAD CCD sensor with an 8x optical zoom Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens. It has 720p HD movie shooting and Optical SteadyShot Active Mode. Available in silver, black, pink and blue for about $159.


W710: It features a 16.1-megapixel Super HAD CCD sensor with a 5x optical Sony zoom lens and large physical controls. It can shoot 720p HD video. Available in silver and black for about $129.


TF1: Designed for active shooters, this new camera has a rugged design, is waterproof (up to 10 m /33 ft), dustproof, shockproof, and freeze proof. The camera’s large buttons, grip and auto screen brightness further simplify operations in outdoor and underwater activities. The camera has a 16.1-megapixel Super HAD CCD sensor with a 4x optical Sony zoom lens. HD movie (720p) shooting capabilities with Optical SteadyShot. Available in black, blue and red for about $229.
