Panasonic Lumix cameras

It’s January and time for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, accompanied by the Photo Marketing Assoc. Show (PMA@CES), which deliver a flood of new cameras and related products. We’ve already reported on new cameras from Pentax and Canon, but now the floodgates have opened on this the first official day of the shows. First up, Panasonic.

Panasonic new models include the Lumix ZS30, which the company says is its most advanced photo and video hybrid compact camera to date; the tough still and video Lumix TS5; the high-power zoom bridge camera Lumix LZ30; the slim and stylish Lumix XS1; and the Lumix SZ3, which packs a large zoom in a sleek design.

Lumix ZS30: An improved 18.1-megapixel high sensitivity MOS Sensor, 20x optical zoom Leica DC lens beginning at a wide 24 mm, new Venus image processor, 60p Full HD AVCHD Progressive video recording capabilities and a host of creative features, integrated Wi-Fi and Near Field Communications (NFC) capabilities, together let you frame and shoot an image remotely with your smartphone or tablet, share images instantly with your favorite social network, and browse your images and videos via your TV or smartphone. The POWER O.I.S. is upgraded with an inclusion of HYBRID O.I.S.+ for video recording with new 5 Axis correction and inclination correction capability counteracting any tilt or handshake. There’s 10fps continuous shooting, Intelligent Auto features, including Face Recognition, High Dynamic Range feature, High Speed Video mode enables super slow-motion recording. Enhanced GPS (Global Positioning System) functionality includes compass and level meter, and Creative Control / Retouch includes modes such as soft focus, toy effect and retro.

Lumix ZS25: For those who don’t require the connectivity options of the ZS30, has similar features and functions, and a 16.1-megapixel, high sensitivity MOS Sensor.

Lumix TS5: Waterproof to a depth of 13 m / 43 feet, shockproof from a height of 2 m / 6.6 feet, freeze proof down to a temperature of -10C / 14F and pressure resistant to 99 kg / 220 lbs; 16.1 megapixel high sensitivity sensor, Full HD 1920×1080 AVCHD Progressive movie recording, Wi-Fi connectivity and NFC capabilities. Leica DC-Vario Elmar lens (beginning at a wide 28 mm with a 4.6 x zoom), 3.0 inch LCD, new Venus engine, time lapse recording and 10 frames per second burst shooting.

Lumix FT25: A tough camera for everyday usage , its specs are a bit reduced from those of the TS5.

Lumix LZ30: This bridge camera has a 35x optical zoom lens beginning at a wide 25 mm and heading up to a staggering 875 mm (with optical image stabilization), 16.1-megapixel resolution, iA (Intelligent Auto) mode, Face Detection, Intelligent Scene Selector and Intelligent Exposure. HD video is in 720p. Creative Control and Creative Retouch are available with a total of 10 (Creative Control) / 11 (Creative Retouch) filter effects. Panorama Shot and HDR (High Dynamic Range) are also incorporated. LCD is 3.0 inches.

Lumix XS1: The first in a new range of slim and stylish compact cameras, 16.1-megapixel sensor, body that’s 14 mm thick, aimed at the smartphone user who is looking to step up the quality of their everyday photography. Offers Creative Control which allows you to choose from a selection of different filters before you capture your photos or video. Options such as ‘Retro’, ‘Pop’ and ‘Miniature Effect’ provide added creativity and control. housed in the camera’s slender frame means you are guaranteed amazing quality with every shot. Intelligent Auto (iA), 5x optical zoom beginning at a wide 24 mm, 1280×720 HD video recording, optical image stabilizing system (MEGA O.I.S.). Creative Control allows you to choose from a selection of 13 different filters before you take your photo. 180 degree panorama mode, 2.7-inch LCD.

Lumix FH10: Identical performance to the XS1 (without Creative Control filters) in a slightly larger camera.

Lumix F5: Entry-level, retains the design of the XS1 and FH10, with a 14.1-megapixel sensor.

Lumix DMC-SZ3: Has a 16.1-megapixel sensor, 10x Leica optical zoom and 12 creative effects, in a sleek slim design.
