An ultra-compact camera, the S01 weighs 96 grams (3.4 ounces), measures 51 x 77 x 17 mm (3.1 x 2.1 x 0.7 inches), features an intuitive touch-screen operating system, sports a 3x wide-angle zoom Nikkor lens, uses the Expeed C2 image-processing engine, and features Easy Auto Mode which offers six scene modes.
The camera features a simple and easy-to-use home screen with shortcut menus for quick operation.
Stainless construction and processing prevents the glossy exterior from being scratched.
The new graphic user interface (GUI) offers a simple four-segment home screen that streamlines operation. Various functions can be comfortably accessed through touch operation. By tapping a subject, the shutter is automatically released when focus and exposure are fixed while various image effects set prior to shooting can be applied to pictures. Additionally, simple in-camera retouching of photos is available.
With Easy Auto Mode, simply framing the subject selects the optimal scene mode and exposure. Scene modes include night portraits, portrait, landscape, night landscape, close-up and backlighting.
The 3X wide-angle zoom Nikkor lens is the equivalent of 29-87 mm.
Nikon says the high-speed and accurate Expeed C2 image-processing engine produces fast responses and yields vibrant colours and even skin tones in images.
The Coolpix S01 will be available in September at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $149.95, available in red, white and silver.
