Panasonic Canada has announced new Class 10 Gold SD cards with upgraded speed performance and durability. The new Class 10 UHS-I Gold cards have a maximum read speed of 90MB/s, upgraded from the current 22MB/s SDW models.
With Class 10 speed specs, the new Gold series is ideal for Full HD video recording with the ability to quickly transfer recorded data to a computer. Compared to the current SDW series, the new Gold series can transfer data approximately four times faster.
The new cards are also designed to be highly reliable and durable. The Intelligent Controller provides Power Failure Protection to protect data from sudden power failure, Refresh Function to extend the archival life more than 10 times, and Smart Data Writing to minimize defect risk caused by intensive writing. These cards are also equipped with new “Proof 5” durability (water-, shock-, magnet-, X-ray-, temperature-proof).
The new Gold cards will be available in memory capacities of 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. The cards will be available in May, with the exception of the 4GB card, which will launch in June. No pricing, yet.
