CompactFlash 6.0 spec

Posted on

Those using CompactFlash cards in your camera, take note: the 6.0 specification has been announced by the CompactFlash Assoc. (CFA). The CF 6.0 specification adds performance and functionality to the current CF 5.0 spec based on the PATA (Parallel ATA) interface while maintaining backward compatibility. The upgrade touches a number of points, the most important for those of us using CF cards is 167 MB/second speed.

Today’s highest performance CompactFlash cards are capable of 600x or 90MB/second throughput performance. So that adds up to a 25 percent increase in speed. As soon as someone makes cards to that spec.
